“ Food was really good. 1. The appetizer and the main dish were served at the same time. 2. The best part of the bulgogi bibimbap was the mushrooms--the texture was incredibly fresh and plump. 3. The bulgogi was served in large pieces, making it difficult to eat. I had to cut it myself. ”
“ I love Korean food. Steakhouses not so much, however a recent work dinner took place at Nami and I took this opportunity to give it the old college try. Thank goodness I did. Nami bills itself as a modern approach to Korean cuisine, offering both traditional table grilling (OG Korean barbeque) and menu items prepared by the chefs. As our party was pretty large we opted to order from the kitchen. Things I enjoyed: - Vegetable pajun - a glorious scallion pancake that I could enjoy quite happily as an entire meal. - Romaine lettuce hearts salad - sounds simple, but the combination of crisp lettuce, Asian pears, peanuts, fried chickpeas, and sesame dressing - I could also just have eaten this alone. -Ya-Chae Bap - VEGAN bulgogi (!!!), fried chickpeas, bean sprouts, leek kimchi, and a truly inspired chili sauce, served on top of rice in a stone bowl which continues to sizzle as one enjoys, resulting in a lovely crispy rice surprise at the end. - Red bean mochi - flavor of a gummy bear, texture of a cloud. The decor is subdued yet distinguished, with lots of seating both down and upstairs, including several rooms available for private events. Our servers were knowledgeable about the menu, including potential allergen items and available substitutions. I appreciate that there are several vegan options, however I do hesitate at the pricing - $29 for a vegan rice bowl (albeit a DELICIOUS one) seems a bit excessive. Overall though, Nami has made me a believer in the Korean steakhouse. Carry on. ”
“ My fiancé and I are huge fans of chef Edward Lee so we've been wanting to check out NAMI for a while. I would definitely go back as I really loved the atmosphere and the elegant decor. I really loved the galbi and banchan too. It was a nice way to celebrate my fiancés birthday :) The staff was nice and kind. They gave my fiancé a mochi dessert for his birthday. ”
“ This place is absolutely incredible! Definitely the best meal I have ever had in Louisville. Deliciously upscale take on traditional Korean cuisine. I was very impressed by the pork belly, honey dew kimchi, and the shaved ice with honey condensed milk, dates and pears. Prices are very fair considering the high quality of the food and service. Will definitely be back! ”
“ Nami is an elevated Korean steakhouse that really shines with cuts of meat and the flavor. Although we chose to cook it ourselves, both of these things were evident. The service is excellent and staff are quick to be helpful but do not hover. Overall: I would come back for a date night, the low lighting upstairs gives it a bit of a romantic feeling at night. ”
“ My husband and I are fans of both Korean cuisine and Chef Edward Lee. How could it be that I was delighted and disappointed all in the same meal???? Moments of delight...... Our server, "J" , was extremely busy with several tables, but still gave us excellent service. He was personable, knowledgeable, and we were well taken care of by him. The shrimp dumplings.... The tender dough, the tasty filling, the slightly spicy chile oil... so wonderful!!!! The other scrumptious dish was the Golbi-Bap..... everything a good hot-stone rice should have, with LOADS of meat!! The decor.... A wide open bar/ dining area, and floor to ceiling windows manages to be cozy and lively at the same time. The edamame and cucumber banchan was unexpected, but with the mix of textures, and a hint of sesame oil... very delicious. Of course you would expect the cabbage kimchi into be the best, and it was. Fresh and tender, with just a bit of sour. Xoxo Moments of disappointment...... Imagine for a moment, taking a mouthful of pickled ginger...I'm talking a big ol' hearty bite of nothing but ginger. Gross, right??? Well, that's what we got with the Wagyu kimbap. It was certainly a beautiful bite, but all you could taste was the POW-in-your-face ginger. Sad. . We ordered the ribeye, thinking we would happily make lettuce wraps........ think again. What was served was a " salad" of sorts with a couple of cucumber slices and heaven forbid GINGER dressing. The ribeye steak was quite thin, more akin to a NY strip, but was cooked to a perfect medium rare. So..... some good, some not so good, I'm going with 3.5, but our server "J" bumped it to a 4 for us!!! ”
“ Great food, great service. They had a slushie drink special which was perfect for a hot summer day. The kimchi trio was great, as was the gogi bap. The kalbi was tasty but not the flanken-style short ribs I was expecting, with bone, gristle, and yummy fat. It was just the meat parts, so a little disappointing. Overall a great experience, and there were many items in the menu we'd love to try next time we're nearby. ”
